The Local Heritage Fund is now open, providing grants to eligible residents and organisations for conservation and restoration work on local heritage items within the LGA or Gilgandra’s Heritage Conservation Area.
The aim of the LHF is to maintain, preserve or restore elements that contribute to the building’s heritage value. This can be maintenance, repairs, or restoration to ensure the longevity of the building/site. The funding cannot be used for improvements such as new kitchens or bathrooms (unless they are for public use).
Approved grants are provided on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to $5,000, with a matching contribution from the applicant. This amount may vary depending on the number and type of applications received.
Council’s Heritage Advisor, Mr Peter Duggan, will assess projects, including a site visit, and provide successful applicants with free advice on the proposed work before it commences.
For more information and to apply, visit 'Local Heritage Fund' on Council’s website.
Applications close on Monday 9am November 2026.
