Project Scope:
The project supports the aims and objectives of the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program by delivering improved access to quality staff accommodation and much-needed residential housing for aged care workers. The new accommodations will support the sustainability and growth of local aged care and health services by helping attract and retain staff through a long-term solution to limited rental housing.

Funding:
The original project estimate of $4.917m was funded on a 50/50 basis between the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and Gilgandra Shire Council. Council has since resolved to contribute a further $500,000, demonstrating its commitment to the project and valuing the partnership with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to strengthen essential aged care services in the Gilgandra region. January 2026; Site establishment commenced in mid-January 2026.
March 2026; Council announce the tender for the Aged Care Residential Staff Accommodation Project was awarded to Haft Constructions Pty Ltd of Dubbo. Construction commenced with completion expected by the end of October 2026.
