To reduce the risk of harm to others, our environment, and the employees at Carlginda who sort through waste by hand, please DO NOT put sharps in your household waste, recycling bin or public litter bin. Community sharps are needles, syringes, pen needles, lancets and similar equipment used outside medical services, such as in homes.
To correctly dispose of sharps, please use:
- an Australian Standard Sharps container, available at the Gilgandra Pharmacy
- puncture-proof plastic container with a lid (not glass or tin)
- community sharps bin, located at the Gilgandra Waste Facility and the Gilgandra MPS.
For more information, please visit www.health.nsw.gov.au/community-sharps or call council on 6817 8800.
