Gilgandra Aero Park Residential Subdivision to Commence Construction

Published on 23 August 2023

The next phase of construction is ready to commence at the Aero Park Residential Subdivision.

Council has appointed Sydney based civil construction company, J Group Corporation, to undertake the next stage of the civil works at the residential subdivision.

Mayor Doug Batten says,

“Council is committed to bringing to life the next stage of the Aero Park Residential Subdivision. As one of Council’s major capital works projects planned for 23/24, this project will see 34 new fully serviced residential housing lots created, ranging from 1034m2 to 1800m2.

This project has been in the planning for some time and is one of the key actions listed in the Gilgandra Housing Strategy. These spacious lots aim to provide families room to grow and the opportunity to enjoy the great lifestyle of our rural country town.”

Adding,

“Since the announcement of construction of the Inland Rail, Council has been strategising on ways our region can gain advantages from this significant development. This project forms part of that strategy. The additional lots will assist in easing the pressures on current housing availability, whilst making more houses available for more people to Live, Enjoy and Grow in Gilgandra, as a part of our Towards 5000 strategy. Over the next 5 years, Gilgandra is set to experience unique change, not only off the back of the Inland Rail construction phases, but also by the expansion and progression of renewable energy projects within the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.”

This subdivision will include construction of roads, footpaths, rolled kerb, stormwater drainage, water and sewerage reticulation systems, NBN, underground power, supply and installation of solar street lights, and street trees to facilitate the 34 residential lots in a modern subdivision. Construction is expected to take approximately 7 months.

Council is pleased to be partnering with J Group Corporation, an experienced civil construction company.

J Group Corporation’s Company Director, Spiro Apokis says,

“We’re really excited to be working in Gilgandra and with Council on this project, it’s a great opportunity that will assist with supporting housing availability and the economic development of a rural community.”

Council is currently preparing a sales strategy and process for the sale of these lots, with further details to be made available in coming months.

Council invites residents to contact Council at 6817 8800, or by emailing council@gilgandra.nsw.gov.au with any questions. You can also find more information, including a layout of the subdivision and lots at our website www.gilgandra.nsw.gov.au.

Council looks forward to working on this project and will be engaging with the community throughout the process.
