Community Health Vision Consultation Sessions- You're Invited

Published on 09 April 2024

Gilgandra Shire Council invites community members to attend consultation sessions to have input into the Community Health Vision for the Gilgandra Region. The Community Health Vision will see the development of strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the health and wellbeing and overall livability of our community into the future, as we strive for the Towards 5000 population vision.

Mayor Doug Batten says the livability of the Gilgandra Region may mean something different for everyone.

“Our wellbeing and health are dependent on the needs of the individuals, understanding what people feel is important to improving livability of Gilgandra, while also extending this to attracting and retaining new residents into our region.”

The Community Health Vision strategy will address existing health challenges as well as empowering the community to actively participate in their well-being, creating a healthier, more vibrant Gilgandra for all its residents.

“I encourage everyone, of all ages, stages of life and from all locations within our region to participate in having your say by the online survey or attending one of our sessions. We need to hear from a range of voices within the Gilgandra Region to make sure we get the broadest range of ideas.”

You can attend a Community Session held Thursday, 11 April 2024:

  • 3.00pm @ Cooee Lodge Hall
  • 5.00pm @ Coo-ee Heritage Centre

Or complete the survey via Council’s website gilgandra.nsw.gov.au

The Vision will be developed following a review of relevant Federal, State and

Local Government policy, analysis of local health and wellbeing data,

engagement of the community and key stakeholders, and identifying health and wellbeing issues where Council can influence the outcomes. The Draft Health Vision is expected to be available in May for review.

Register attendance to a Community Session by phone 6817 8800 or email council@gilgandra.nsw.gov.au.
