The Gilgandra Cultural Precinct (GCP) is set to welcome a mural make over, showcasing our region in a creative light!
Council is seeking community feedback on what you would like to see incorporated into these murals, be sure to have your say!
The GCP has three key themes:
- Military history,
- Aboriginal heritage, and
- Farming and natural landscape.
The GCP is set along the banks of the Castlereagh River. It is a prime location on the Newell Highway with natural landscapes, infrastructure and ambience supporting Gilgandra’s culture and history.
Following on from a quotation process earlier this year the contracts for the mural works have been awarded to regional legends CWME Civil and Solid Signs!
General Manager, David Neeves says,
“Murals and public art aren’t just an addition to the beautification of our local towns, but also a popular tourist attraction for rural communities. The addition of murals will add another point of interest to our expanding Gilgandra Cultural Precinct, complementing the recently renovated Coo-ee Heritage Centre and Windmill Walk.”
“We can’t wait to see what the community comes back with and how Solid Signs will reflect this into the new murals!”
Now's the time to have your say as to what you would like to see displayed on these murals!
Survey closes Monday, 31 July 2023.
