Project Miller Street > Seats, Beats & Eats is completed!
The Miller Street > Seats, Beats & Eats project has transformed the Community Plaza from retaining walls and concrete paths with limited shade to an inviting softened serene environment. The surrounds are an attractive place where visitors and community members can sit, rest and relax with friends in a family-friendly environment. The area is now an accessible functional key area prompting people to grab a meal at local takeaways and sit in the shaded bench seats to enjoy their mealtime breaks.
The activated space has enhanced the Gilgandra Community Plaza which testifies as an area where impromptu interaction regularly takes place. There is a hype of activity at the CWA street stalls held the first Saturday of each month, with stall holders, visitors and community members frequenting the area. The CBD is now a vibrant and energetic area, the parking lot making accessibility easy for visitors and community members to surrounding businesses in the geographic area.
Miller Street > Seats, Beats & Eats is made possible with the assistance of funding from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment under the Streets as Shared Spaces Program Round 2. Linking to the adjacent Mill on Miller Street Plaza and GIL Library Hub, and aligning with the Gilgandra Activation Blueprint, Seats, Beats & Eats aims to activate and transform the Gilgandra Community Plaza to create a connected, activated space piquing community and visitor interest!
