THE GIL COLLECTIVE ONLINE READY FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Published on 05 May 2020

The GIL Collective is now online and Council invites you to be a part of this! Whether a stockist, shopper or sharer of our social media posts, this initiative is based on supporting local businesses, our Region’s economy and activating Gilgandra’s Main Street.

Marketing & Communications Manager, Kathryn Larkin says the platform is a great place to start (and finish!) your Mother’s Day shopping.

“The range of products and services available through The GIL Collective is stunning, from homemade wares, artwork, furniture, woodwork, jewellery and gifts, the Collective really showcases what our region has to offer, and we’re sure you’ll find something for the special someone in your life.”

Adding,

“It’s incredible to see collectively what is available locally. By bringing these businesses, artists and makers together, an easy online shopping experience is created and is another platform for promoting what our local businesses have to offer.”

Director Corporate Services, Neil Alchin says,

“The GIL was founded as a key element in activating Gilgandra’s Main Street by filling the former Target building prior to construction of the new Library and Community Hub.”

“The current COVID-19 situation has seen even The GIL operate just a little different. The opening of The GIL for 2020 was postponed with an online store planned in the interim to help support local businesses, artists and makers, reinforcing the key objective of the GIL – to support local businesses, show what our region has to offer and activate our Main Street.”

Being part of the GIL is not just limited to makers, artists or home-based businesses, but each of our existing retail stores as well.

All businesses in the Gilgandra Shire are automatically a ‘GIL Collective Friend’ which means The GIL Collective will share your social media posts and your promotions, keep you up-to-date with news and events and invite you to be part of virtual street sales and promotions.

All Gilgandra Shire businesses are able to list their business as part of the ‘Business is a little different’ campaign and Council will promote you on both the GIL Collective and Gilgandra Region social platforms.

Should you wish to become a ‘Gil Collective Member’, The GIL Collective can sell, package and post your items on your behalf (based on a commission basis). Please be in touch with Council’s Marketing & Communications team on 6817 8800 or email enjoy@gilgandra.nsw.gov.au.

Mrs Larkin says,

“We understand that business is tough right now with the COVID-19 pandemic, not to mention coming off the back of more than three years of drought, with the economic impacts expected to continue to reverberate through our community. “

“In its first week of operation, The GIL Collective has made over $700 worth of sales, a great boost to our local economy, and one we hope to continue. We encourage window shopping at The GIL Collective for inspiration of what o purchase, with a changing array of products on display. We are also planning to work with local business for virtual promotions and our team will shortly be speaking to local businesses about the Shop Local Program for 2020 and how you would like to see this run.”
