Support our Businesses by Shopping Local!

Published on 09 June 2020

The Gilgandra community are asked to remember the value of shopping locally, especially as restrictions from COVID-19 are easing, and people begin to move about the community more freely.

Local businesses have been working hard in recent months to adapt to the imposed social distancing restrictions which have significantly impacted on their trade.

Mayor, Doug Batten says while it has been important for the community to respond and adhere to the COVID-19 restrictions, it is now just as important to stay safe, while supporting our local businesses as restrictions ease.

“As a community we have been through an incredibly tough time, and with some much needed rain falling earlier in the year, things were starting to look like they were improving. No-one could have predicted what was to come, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact on our daily lives. I congratulate the community on responding the way we have, doing what was asked and staying home”.

“Now, as the NSW Government is easing restrictions and providing the ability for people to move about more freely, our local businesses are starting to open their doors again. For some this may be an increase to their altered trade, but for others, the doors may be opening for the first time in months” says Mayor Batten.

Adding,

“Now is the time to support and shop local, and what better way than use those Cooee Cash cards you may have that you’ve not yet had the opportunity to spend.”

Cooee Cash cards can be used right across the Gilgandra Shire with any business that accepts EFTPOS. Tyres, farm and hardware supplies, gifts for loved ones are all examples of how these cards may be spent.

Mayor Batten says we’ll be surprised by what might be found locally.

“So many businesses have thought outside the box and have been trying to bring a little something extra to the town through this unprecedented time, now is a great time to support their efforts.”
