Shop Local this Christmas!

Published on 02 November 2020

Heading into its 12th year, the 2020 campaign has been designed with some new features and opportunities all designed to support our local businesses!

Acting Mayor Ash Walker says,

“Council recently took the opportunity to take a step back and consult with local businesses on how they think Shop Local has worked in the past, areas for possible improvement and ideas moving forward.”

Adding

“It was a valuable process and believe the new campaign responds to the feedback received. One of the key new elements is recognising the importance of shopping local and promoting the Gilgandra Region on a regular basis and not just at Christmas.”

Weekly draws will still form a key element along with business draw opportunities, customer feedback surveys and advertising collateral for local businesses to actively promote the campaign as well.

Council’s General Manager, David Neeves says entrants can start collecting their receipts from Monday, 2 November with the first draw being held Thursday 26 November 2020!

“Entrants are asked this year to provide receipts from three different businesses, to a total value of at least $100. There will also be a business winner each week from the collated receipts. With $10,000 in Cooee Cash cards to be won this year and each card valued at $250, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to benefit” says Mr Neeves.

Adding,

“This year we’re also looking to capture customer data, with shoppers encouraged to provide feedback on their experience in our local businesses. It’s a great opportunity for customers to share what they like and also gather suggestions and ideas for Gilgandra businesses to grow moving forward”.

You might notice the bright green mailbox that has recently popped up in the laneway on the wall at the GIL, so be sure to use it to provide your feedback and be in with a further opportunity to win 2x $500 Cooee Cash cards.

The Shop Local barrel will be located outside the GIL, and will be ready to start taking entries from this week.

Local business will be provided with a Shop Local pack the first week in November, which will include a range of resources for them to help get things underway!

The weekly Shop Local draws will take place at 4pm on the following dates out the front of the GIL Collective and Visitor Information Centre, Gilgandra
