Gilgandra is set to light up in April when we welcome locals and visitors alike to enjoy a Night Under the Gums!

A Night Under the Gums invites attendees to graze the delights of local and regional food suppliers, enjoy a beverage and experience the Gilgandra riverside in a new light ~ with both live music and lighting displays set to make the space shine.

Mayor, Doug Batten says he is excited for Gilgandra to play host to such an event.

“We are excited to host this new and exciting event and encourage people from near and far to join us for a relaxed night out to enjoy some live music, good food and a laugh with others. The opportunity to do this as a community is something that’s definitely been missing over the last 12 months and we are looking forward to making it happen!”

Adding,

“We’re welcoming travellers and visitors to come visit and enjoy our Region. Make the most of the an opportunity to combine a night out with a chance to explore what our Region has on offer – wander down Miller Sreet, visit one of our country pubs or take a trip to the Warrumbungles. With the recent rainfall the countryside will be looking spectacular!”

Council’s Marketing and Communications Manager Kathryn Larkin says stallholders from our local and broader region are on board to help create this exciting event, in a new active space.

“We’ve been in contact with many stallholders and it’s great to see the level of interest and support from people to bring their products and experiences to Gilgandra, and for our local community to be part of this.

Adding,

“It will also be the first time we have used the area along the banks of the Castlereagh River behind the Gil Collective as a community event space and with the focus on activation of this space, we’re keen to showcase this in a different light.”

Come along to enjoy some delicious drinks and treats from suppliers including Armatree Hotel, Megan O’Connor catering, Blue Sky Cheese, Black Gate Distillery and local community groups. Sarah Leete will be bringing some modern country tunes to the event.

“We are very excited to have Sarah and these suppliers on board, and invite the community to enjoy the natural beauty of the Castlereagh river under lights and some tasty treats from our broader region. Keep an eye out as we announce more of our stallholders in the coming weeks!” says Mrs Larkin.

The event is being held with support from NSW government funding opportunity to host an event as part of the statewide Summer Fund – Festival of Place initiative which seeks to support community wellbeing and economic recovery in our local centres.
