Gilgandra Lifestyles is currently welcoming families to speak with us to find out more about our aged care options.
With choices from in-home care through to hostel and special care arrangements, Gilgandra Lifetyles can provide personalised care for you or your loved ones in our regional location.
General Manager, David Neeves says maintaining social connections with residents and their families and friends is a key factor in the care at Gilgandra Lifestyles.
“While we are small in comparison to larger providers in metropolitan areas, our regional hostels provide crucial services for the Gilgandra Region, with opportunity for families in our local community to stay connected.”
Adding,
“Our staff are dedicated to providing a personalised service to our residents and clients and maintaining relationships with families to ensure best practice care is provided.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen some challenges for the industry. Mr Neeves says that as vaccines for the COVID-19 pandemic are rolling out, aged care facilties are front of the line and now is a good time to start to consider options.
“Many families have held off on the decision to build a relationship with an aged care facility for a family member, especially with the unknown of the pandemic. It is expected that by June 2021, all residents in Cooee and Jack Towney Hostels will be fully vaccinated. This, along with the strengthened procedures we have in place, means we are open and welcoming new clients and residents”.
Gilgandra Lifestyles is also looking forward to the opportunities to improve services resulting from the recent Federal Budget announcements.
Mr Neeves says,
“The budget announcement of an additional $10/bed funded per day as well as the one off payment for residential care for non-metro hostels like ours, is a much needed bonus for our finely balanced budget. As a small provider, this is a good result for our residents, and enhances our ability to deliver high quality services to residents in our hostels.”
The announcement also delivers additional funds for traineeships and ongoing skill development for aged care workers
“This is a great opportunity for us to build on and formalise our in-house training as well as improving access to other opportunities to support staff participate in professional development courses in aged care fields” says Mr Neeves.
Adding,
“This includes an emerging demand for skills in information and communication technology, especially foreshadowing where our communication capabilities will expand to keep residents connected to families and promote access to specialist health care advice for residents”.
