Community Care Taxi Subsidy Service available

Published on 23 November 2020

The Community Care taxi subsidy service is once again available for clients, with the new taxi services in Gilgandra.

Council’s Director Community Services Jo Manion says the return of a local taxi service is great news for Community Care clients, providing an affordable and accessible transport option.

“Having a local taxi again in Gilgandra is great for our town and especially welcome for Community Care clients. It provides accessible transport and ultimately flexibility to move about the community to shop, see friends, attend appointments as they wish” says Ms Manion.

Adding,

“Council has met with the local driver of 13 CABS to arrange the use of the vouchers in the Gilgandra area. We are also working together with the aim of establishing a weekly maxi taxi trip to Dubbo for Community Care clients attending medical and specialist appointments. Depending on numbers the service may also be able to provide seats for other people who need to travel to Dubbo”.

The taxi voucher system operates through the Community Care service. Clients purchase a booklet of  vouchers that reduce the cost of taxi trips in Gilgandra. The vouchers are available only to eligible clients of the service for local trips.

Community Care clients are welcome to contact Community Care on 6817 8750 to discuss whether they are eligible for taxi subsidy vouchers and to register interest in in utilising the proposed Dubbo service.
