As part of the Gilgandra Waste Facility, Council operates a Community Recycling Centre (CRC) onsite. The CRC accepts a wider range of material for recycling than the kerbside pick-up (yellow-lid bins) and the drop-off yellow bags.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established a network of CRCs across NSW with the primary aim of this program being to provide a means for households in NSW to safely dispose of materials that have the potential to be a hazard to the environment or to public health, or are problematic to safe waste and recycling collection and disposal.

Resources accepted at the Gilgandra CRC include:

  • Batteries (vehicle and household types)
  • Oil and water based paints plus other kinds of paints
  • Florescent tubes and globes
  • Aerosol cans
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Gas cylinders (large and small)
  • Motor and cooking oils plus other oils
  • Tyres
  • Smoke alarms
  • Hazardous chemicals (garden and household products)

Please note: these items are not accepted as part of your recycling. They are only for drop-off at the CRC area of Gilgandra Waste Facility. If you are unsure whether the material you wish to dispose of will be accepted at the Gilgandra CRC, please call the staff on 02 6817 8866 for assistance. Also see this website for more information. This facility is for community use only, no material will be accepted from industrial enterprises.
