Each year the people of Gilgandra Shire are invited to nominate fellow citizens or organisations/events for an award recognising outstanding achievement during the past year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years.
Citizen of the Year
To be eligible, the person must be 26 years or older on 26 January of the relevant year.
Young Citizen Award
To be eligible, the person must be under 26 years and over 16 years of age on 26 January of the relevant year.
Sports Achievement Award
Presented to the person/team who has achieved the highest honour during the year.
Community Event of the Year
Presented to the person/group who has staged the most outstanding community event during the past year.
Community Service Organisation of the Year
Presented the to group who is deemed to be the most outstanding community service organisation during the past year.

The awards will be presented on Australia Day as part of the official Australia Day Ceremony held in Hunter Park, Gilgandra.
Breakfast is available from 7.30am and the awards ceremony gets underway at 9.00am.
