Youth Services
Objective
To provide access to a range of activities and referral services to young people (aged 12 to 24) in the community in order to develop a sense of self worth and responsibility
Gilgandra Food Service
Objective
To provide a food service to residents of Gilgandra Shire which meets the Department of Ageing and Disabilities and Home Care standards and guidelines
Government Access Centre
Objective
To provide a one-stop shop for access to a range of State, and Federal Government services that meet identified needs of the local community
Cooee Heritage Centre
Objective
To provide a museum, keeping place and cultural centre for Gilgandra and district which supports and develops a range of local and travelling exhibitions to attract diverse audiences
To provide visitor information services promoting and benefiting the district
Community Housing
Objective
To work in partnership with Federal and State governments to provide a range of public housing to meet the needs of the Shire
To manage and control a local community housing program
Preschool Services
Objective
To support and encourage development of services for families including Family Day Care and other preschool services
Library
Objective
To provide a facility and collection of books, materials and activities which satisfy the educational, recreational and information needs of the community
Promotion and Economic Development
Objective
- To foster and facilitate development by assisting the growth and retention of business
- Aim to reduce barriers and attract diverse, sustainable and responsible new industry development
- To improve the profile of Gilgandra and district to attract investment, industry, new residents and tourism
- Assist, facilitate and promote information about (and the uptake of) government agencies and programs aimed at improving the services, business activity, community skills and capacity building
Community Halls
Objective
- To provide a Gilgandra Shire Hall facility that meets community needs
- To assist local Hall committees at Tooraweenah and Curban to provide facilities which meet community needs
Community and Social Planning
Objective
- To ensure that all Gilgandra Shire residents have the opportunity to have an input on community and social issues
- To use effective planning techniques to ensure community and social issues identified are addressed by Council in a cost effective way
