Spectator Sports
Gilgandra Jockey Club
The Gilgandra Racecourse is located on the Newell Highway and provides a beautiful, shady environment to enjoy the atmosphere and thrill of country race meetings.
Speedway
Enjoy the thrills and spills of the speedway in Gilgandra monthly between October and June. The speedway is located on the Newell Highway and always provides the crowd with a great night of entertainment.
Rugby League and Rugby Union
Gilgandra has teams in both sports and during winter the local games draw a great crowd and are followed by a night of entertainment.
Sporting Groups
Gilgandra boasts excellent facilities for all popular sports and the excellent climate allows outdoor activities to be enjoyed all year round. All sports including netball, tennis, basketball, squash, football, cricket, swimming, golf, touch football, hockey and many more have very strong clubs with various competitions throughout the year. New members and teammates are always welcome at all of these clubs.
Leisure
There are three licensed clubs and four licensed hotels, providing entertainment on a regular basis. Gilgandra has an active Arts Council and a local entertainment group which produces top-class amateur performances and arranges visits from Australian and international artists. With Dubbo only being 45 minutes away there are opportunities to access other specialist sporting and cultural experiences.
