GILGANDRA NAIDOC AWARDS 2018

Gilgandra Youth Services, as part of Gilgandra Shire Council, in partnership with Barnados Gilgandra are proud to announce the first National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Commemoration (NAIDOC) Awards for Gilgandra.

With the theme, “Because of her we can!” the 2018 NAIDOC Celebrations will run from the 8 – 15 July, with the awards gala event to be held Saturday, 14 July at the Gilgandra Services Club.

Matthew Wilson, Director of Community Services says,

“These awards aim to highlight the dedication, determine and achievements of the Indigenous community employed throughout the Gilgandra Shire.”

Adding,

“We are excited to deliver this event, in partnership with Barnados, which aims to inspire and encourage our community to be proud. The continuing hard work of individuals will be acknowledged by the community and their respected work places.”

Across 8 categories, there are two types of awards that will be celebrated on the night; Community Choice Awards and Workplace Awards, where the Workplace Awards have a panel of independent judges reviewing individual nominations through a scoring process.

Nomination forms can be found online at www.gilgandra.nsw.gov.au, by visiting Council at Warren Road, Barnados Gilgandra or at Gilgandra Youth Services on the corner of Hall and Wrigley Street.

Nominations close Friday, 6 July with winners announced at the gala awards event, which will be held Saturday, 14 July at Gilgandra Services Club.
